TouchMath Counting Basic 2.01

TouchMath Counting Basic introduces students to single-digit number values through the unique multisensory TouchMath system. This math program stands out as it utilizes the actual numeral as a manipulative tool, enhancing the learning experience. Each numeral from 1 to 9 features TouchPoints that correspond to the digit's value, enabling students to understand and visualize numbers more effectively.

By counting the TouchPoints, students establish connections between numerals and tangible values, realizing that a numeral, like 3, symbolizes a specific quantity such as three baseballs, ladybugs, starfish, or TouchPoints. This method helps students grasp the concept behind numbers beyond mere symbols on a page.

What is TouchMath?

TouchMath is a comprehensive multisensory math program designed to make challenging math concepts more understandable and engaging for students who encounter difficulties comprehending grade-level mathematical content. Over its five-decade history, TouchMath has contributed to developing more adept math teachers, improving test scores, and boosting student self-assurance. The program is aligned with the Common Core State Standards and provides a blend of print materials, technology resources, and classroom aids/manipulatives. Who Uses TouchMath?

TouchMath caters to students with diverse ability levels and learning preferences, offering support in prevention, intervention, and intensive intervention scenarios. It is suitable for all Pre-K–2nd-grade classrooms, including both general education settings and Response to Intervention (RtI) Tiers I & II. Additionally, it provides intervention strategies and remedial assistance for RtI Tier III students, as well as special education students from grades 3 to 12.
